Whether you’re a solicitor or a builder, its safe to say that most businesses now face more competition.
This is why its more important than ever for your business to stand out from the crowd.
One way to do just that is to invest in quality SEO. However, if you know a thing about online marketing you will know that some agencies simply produce winning results, and some are just rip-off merchants.
Yet, what unites most marketing agencies is their obsession with using marketing jargon for the sake of it.
However, we are different, we truly are. The reason our agency is different is we explain things clearly.
So, if you asked another marketing agency how to improve your businesses local seo, well they are likely to want a board meeting, a sit down and think, followed by a team “brain storming” session.
Which we think is all very, well unnecessary. Although the seo that the marketing agency implements should be unique, often the type of work that is needed is not unique.
There’s somewhat of a formula that your business can follow, so here’s seven tips to help your business improve its local seo.
Remember however, all work must be white hat!
#1 Obtain a Google My Business listing
Before you start even implementing other forms of SEO, your business should obtain a Google My Business listing.
It’s a piece of cake to do, and we’ve even pasted the link here so you can start building your businesses Google My Business listing straightaway.
But we would highly recommend that you don’t rush building your GMB listing. So don’t for example start it an ten to five on a Friday afternoon as something you can do in a couple of minutes.
Nope, instead grab yourself a coffee, or tea whatever you like really, and then start completing your Google My Business listing.
We would recommend that you add as much detail as possible, and we recommend you do the following
· Make sure the name, address and phone number of your business matches with what is on your website.
· Don’t add the city name after or in your business name if it isn’t part of the businesses name, as this looks spammy
· Write a good wordy business description
· Add pictures of your business, such as the store front, or pictures of your team
· Get your SEO company to optimise your Google My Business listing
#2 Obtain genuine reviews on Google My Business
You may have loads of customers that are more than happy with the service they gained from your business.
So why not capitalise on all these happy customers? Why not ask them to leave a business review on your Google My Business account.
This can help your businesses SEO, as Google likes to place businesses in the Google My Business results that have a good star rating.
So, say you’re looking for a tasty pizza, so you look for local pizza restaurants that deliver, Google’s likely to display businesses that have good reviews.
However, do not fake your businesses reviews. The reason you shouldn’t fake your businesses reviews is that Google’s algorithm will know the reviews are fake, and your business won’t be displayed in the Google My Business results.
#3 Use structured data, such as Schema
When you have a look at the various online marketing companies out there, normally they give away loads of seo advice.
That’s to say normally the company blog is regularly updated with SEO news and the articles normally have hundreds, if not thousands of words.
Well this is great, it can help that agencies seo, yet there will be so much information Google may not know what all of it is about.
For example, the marketing agency may be talking about seo news in one article, then in another talking about a recent award that they have picked-up.
So it can be confusing for Google to know what every part of the businesses website is about. So this is where Schema can help.
Schema can be used to mark-up important parts of your website, so for example the marketing agency may mark-up the businesses name, address and phone number using schema.
#4 Add quality content marketing
Your business should add quality content marketing to your website on a regular basis. This is often completed through adding a blog post on a regular basis.
#5 Technical SEO
Your seo agency should optimise your website using technical seo. This means that your businesses meta titles, meta descriptions and title tags should be optimised in a white hat way.
#6 (NAP) Business citations
You should build business citations, yet the NAP information should match exactly with your website.
#7 Make sure that you refresh your knowledge on regular basis
Some parts of SEO change all the time, so make sure you keep your knowledge up to date.
